Peterborough International Orchid Show

 

A number of people have been informed that the Peterborough International Orchid Show has been cancelled. In the last month a group of us have been negotiating with the Showground to keep it going.

 

We had a second meeting today with the Chief Executive of the Peterborough Agricultural Show and the good news is that the Peterborough International Orchid Show will definitely take place next year.  Please get the message out that the orchid show will take place on the 6th to the 8th July 2012.

 

A restructured management team will be running the event – Chris Barker (Show Secretary), Max Hopkinson and Dick Hartley (two of the original team of three that set up the Peterborough Orchid Show), Mel Stephen (judging organiser in recent years), Steve Pask (marquee planner in recent years), Arthur Deakin (to act as our treasurer) and Mike Armstrong (well known in the orchid world as owner of Mikandra Orchid Nursery).

 

The new management team will be having a meeting early in September to discuss plans and then further details and invitations will go out before the end of the month.

 

There will be a restructuring of the main show in an effort to increase the numbers attending the event and more people should benefit the orchid show; we expect the show to be as good, and hopefully better than in previous years.

 

We would value any feedback from our exhibitors relating to the show. us know if you are interested and have any ideas/suggestions for developing and improving the show that can be discussed at our September meeting.If you are aware of anyone who has never been involved with the show but is interested then please advise them to get in touch.
